This year's global initiative centers around the theme “Think Blue,” putting a direct spotlight on the critical need to protect and restore our interconnected marine ecosystems. While the official day of action has been rescheduled by CNN organisers to December 3rd, 2026, Big Blue Ocean Cleanup teams and volunteer networks are already mobilising worldwide.

By joining forces with CNN, the organisation aims to leverage its global cleanup network to drive massive awareness, remove plastic pollution from vital coastlines, and feature the hard work of local ocean advocates on a global media stage.
