8 Years of Impact: Ambassador Peter Tackles Marine Litter at Barns Ness
Our global network relies on passionate individuals. Peter, our East Lothian Ambassador, is a shining example.
For nearly a decade, Peter has protected the Scottish coastline. He recently completed his eighth annual beach cleanup.
Overcoming the Scottish Weather
Planning a cleanup in Scotland is always a challenge. This year, unpredictable weather forced several cancellations.
Two weeks ago, a rare Scottish heatwave arrived. Peter seized the moment. He called his core volunteer group into action immediately.
Target: Barns Ness Lighthouse
The team focused on Barns Ness Lighthouse. This iconic East Lothian landmark features beautiful geological formations.
Armed with Big Blue Ocean Cleanup bags and gloves, the volunteers cleared the shoreline. They removed harmful marine litter before the tide could wash it back out.
A Community Effort
Peter sent us a update following the successful event:
"Tried several times to pull beach cleanup together but the weather had always other plans. However, 2 weeks ago when this alleged heatwave was here in Scotland I phoned up my core group members and went to Barns Ness Lighthouse to do something useful."
Thank You, Peter!
We are incredibly proud to support Peter and his dedicated team. Consistent local action like his keeps our oceans healthy.
